Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Hungary

H.E. Mr. Marius Gabriel Lazurca




Mr. Marius Gabriel Lazurca was born in the city of Timisoara on March 15, 1971. He is married to Mirela, medical doctor, with whom he has six children. After studying Philology in his hometown, Mr. Lazurca continued his studies in France, at the École normale supérieure and Université Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV). In 2003, Mr. Marius Lazurca obtained a PhD degree in history-anthropology at the Université Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV).

The Ambassador of Romania to Hungary, Mr. Marius Gabriel Lazurca began his professional life, in 1997, as a university teacher at West University of Timisoara - Faculty of Letters, History and Theology. He published several books and studies in Romanian, French and English in the fields of comparative literature and historical anthropology.

Mr. Marius Gabriel Lazurca joined the Romanian diplomatic service in 2006 and served as Ambassador of Romania to the Holy See and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (December 29, 2006–March 29, 2010) and to the Republic of Moldova (March 30, 2010-April 5, 2016).

Marius Gabriel Lazurca has been accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Hungary, as per Decree no 645 of July 6, 2016, signed by the H.E. Mr. Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania.

On July 21, 2016, Mr. Marius Lazurca paid a visit to Mr. István Manno, Chief of Protocol within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and presented the copies of his Letters of Credence and the Letters of Recall of his predecessor.

He has officially commenced his mandate on September 12, 2016, upon presenting his Letters of Credence to H.E. Mr. János Áder, President of the Republic of Hungary.
